The Comic and the Straight Man

There are all sorts of sayings
about how things fit together,
“Hand and glove”
"Ham and eggs”.
But how do we fit together,
you and I?

Forget about yin and
yang.
I am the tears that fall
for your pain,
You are the sand that holds my sea,
and I am the front side to your
flip side.

You are the blossom
for which I bud,
I am the rocks that form your rapids.
And throughout the days
and nights of our life,
I am the journey.
you are the first step.

    A delightfully clever, as well as sweet, piece. I agree with the last reviewer: I love the new spin on the old phrases! You capture the reader's attention in the first stanza and it is impossible not to read through it all. Very, very lovely!

    Very nice. Love the new spin on the old phrases. I hope the contest holder recognizes that as well..I love the smell of broken cliches in the morning.

    Dear Cynthia

    I actually clicked this because I'm going to the Comedy Store at the Riviera Hotel tonight with a friend. But I see this a tad deeper than I guessed it would be!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    A duck walks into a bar and asks for a Jack Daniels with a coke back.
    The bartender says, "How are you going to pay for this?"
    To which the duck replied, "Put it on my bill!"
    Glad I stopped by, hope all is well!
