reflecting ironic

dinner-dates & nights spent dancing
[ in both vertical & horizontal
                                                sweat ]

flowers & gifts to speak in place of words,
when he could not.

two diamond rings -
                   one a promise made
                   another kept,

as white wedding dollars
spin themselves dry with
her tears

...

years & children later,
            he frequents rooms for
            frenzy & fuck ...

            puzzles at how a wife's
            scream

justifies itself,

          [ as she rails against bastard-men &
whores - before summoning her lawyer
                                           & missing the irony. ]

when all he ever knew
was how to buy women [ wives included ]

& he smiles knowingly, thinking -
at least the whores, with money-up-front
were
          honest.

of course,
he too misses the irony.

Why am I not surprised that you've given be a piece of brilliance? I could quote my favourite part, but you'd end up with the whole poem in here, like with most of your work . Thank you hun, for giving me a piece of real poetry.

stands out to me, because of the concrete form used in this poem. when poetic form is vertical, it is lugbrious.. and horizontal form to me, here represents how we are stretched thin in the demands of life

Indeed, he does miss the irony and it's all the same. Sad life really, but some people do live it. Is it the whores or the men who buy their services or the woman/kids at home that I feel sorry for? I don't know. Sorry and disgust, in several circumstances.

Life is a sideshow of sad little ironies isn't it? lol..
It's always easier to see the irony in someone else's situation then recognizing our own role in it.
A very clever, and humanly sad tale. Excellent.
