Nine years ago my life was dark,
I had truly lost my way,
One step forward three steps back,
No light entered my day,
One moment I had nothing,
My life a downward slope,
Within a heartbeat I had you,
To give my life some hope,
Loving you has changed me,
Now I see with different eyes,
If happiness were a contest,
Then I feel I got first prize,
You've given me joy and laughter,
You've given me warmth and pride,
Now I feel I'm truly blessed,
When you are at my side,
You are a gift from heaven,
I'd give my life for you,
And I dedicate this poem,
To my daughter Emma - Lou.

Charming & sweet
... dedicatory poem! I like your rhyme and cadence and at first thought, oh no ... another 'I love my mate' poem but as I read on it was the last line that really said 'Yes!'. and so I then thought, charming and sweet and I feel that she will cherish this for years to come. Good luck in the contest. joy
