I can see the pain
etched into your eyes
and how I cry
to take it all away
but it's a battle
you must fight alone
and I'll wait in the wings
with a candle burning
in the windowsill
for the soldier to return
victorious in his decison
for the soldier to smile
and be happy with the choice
for the soldier to love
for the soldier to trust
but most of all
for the soldier to come home...
once and for all
Lying on my pillow
I remember days gone by
laughing at anything we do
seriousness was hard to find
it was so hard to lie...
with each passing second
my heart was screaming
to speak the truth...
but I can't fight
for you..
you must make
the choice..
for the soldier to return
victorious in his decison
for the soldier to smile
and be happy with the choice
for the soldier to love
for the soldier to trust
but most of all
for the soldier to come home...
once and for all
No matter the choice
No matter the pain
We can always...
dance in the rain
while I wait...
I can see the pain
etched into your eyes
and how I cry
to take it all away
but it's a battle
you must fight alone
and I'll wait in the wings
with a candle burning
in the windowsill
for the soldier to return
victorious in his decison
for the soldier to smile
and be happy with the choice
for the soldier to love
for the soldier to trust
but most of all
for the soldier to come home...
once and for all

But thank you for ending the writer's block... you know who you are.

Great poem, the part ofit is that some people dn't give a damn for this country. They don't know what those soldiers go through they watch their friends get murdered . I'm damn proud of those soldiers & God bless the U.S.A! My fav part was:
for the soldier to return
victorious in his decison
for the soldier to smile
and be happy with the choice
for the soldier to love
for the soldier to trust
but most of all
for the soldier to come home...
once and for all

Yes indeed. Very inspirational, and shows such deep character for you to wait for while he is fighting a personal battle. That you would comfort and support someone in such a difficult situation shows how much of an understanding, empathetic, compassionate person you are.

I'm sorry - this is longer than twenty lines, so it probably won't win in my contest. Best of luck in future contests.
