In Search of Levi's Tears

They talked
like women do:
of passion and purity
melodies fall

moments pass

And Levi sings -
& how he melted words
the sway of it all
time, lies unrequited

listen-
you can hear his heart
beat,
he sings, on the ether

                             axis spins

                           the Tops
"It's all in the game"
one more time for her

for her

for her

Lute he used to lissen to Smoky Robinson, he was my favorite. Oh they waqs otis redding, and barry white and a whole host of others, but I liked Smokey the best. Nowadays seems like they just be talking real fast or screechin at the world, it's like they got no time for lookin at the center of their soul. the innocence keeps eroding away, the face of men become ever more naked and the children see it earlier and earlier, it remains to be seen if that is a bad thing.

Looking around allpottery, it brings to mind the fact that in the bad old days when we were somewhat younger than we are today, there was no such outlet for the sharing of our pain, our lonliness, if we wrote we did it in the dark alone and no one read the words. It may be that this shared experience which the children today enjoy will bring something good into the world, tho, personally, I would hope the music gets better although its none of my business cause its their world now and they must do the best they can with it. We are just hanging on, mostly dismayed with what we have allowed to happen always lost in our own quiet dreams.

Burning House is a levis kind of House, because when you have buns like the House does, you want everyone to admire the back-porch. And levis can do the trick.

Burning House also notes that in the original Hebrew, "levi" derives from the term "joing" and that is exactly the type of Biblical expression Burning House approves of. Because with well-cut and fit levis, you may soon be in a joining type of mood, sans denim.

Burning House does suggest an edit to ManchesterU-Nurse's first stanza though, for greater emotional impact:

    "They talked
    like women do:
    of passion and purity
    and Burning House
    Oh GOD did they talk
like women do about Burning House
    oh baby baby
    burning house...
damn, I need to take a few minutes
    from writing this poem
    oooooooh Burning House......

Burning House sees that is somewhat more poetic.... And the House always wins -- never bet against the House, baby!

Yes, you knew I loved Motown, Gill, since we had a "name that tune" session early one morning (morning for me, evening for you). What you couldn't have known is that my late Sweetheart Don used to sing me songs by the Tops & the Temptations, among others. So yeahhh, ya got me with this one, Sweetie. This is beautiful, my Friend. Thank you so much for your thoughtful words & inevitable kindness, Sweetie. Good luck in Mary & Nic's contest, Lady. Wanda

Ah, this is gorgeous! I bet Wanda will be really pleased by this. Excellent writing as ever, Gill. On an aside note...My mother used to work for Levi's in the warehouse when I was a kid.

You have written yourself right into Wanda's heart with this one, Gill..."one more time for her...for her, for her"... I so loved the repetition at the end. I agree with Mary - this is wonderful...reading this is like listening with the heart. So beautiful this is..!
