Rapture in the Rain

~~        ~~

Sanguine afternoon

the bees stunned by the power
of saturating perfume,

the sky frowning gray and
finally shaking its wet head,
misting my garden.

Rapturous moments
in the clouds,
heart and fingers
for heaven.

Drops fall
and gently touch my tongue
waiting to taste
the voice of God.

"This is the blood of Christ,"
the priest said,
as he handed me the wine...

But this afternoon
amid the gray,
there were no thorns
upon his crown,
no sorrows in his cup,

only his joys came raining down.

Did you ever read any secular accounts of Jesus? (as opposed to the Biblical ones?) I read one once, it described him physicaly as having wavy hair, and a beard that forked, and gray eyes. It said that he commanded the crowds when he spoke, and that he had been seen to become angry, and also that he smiled, but never laughed.

Your poem is peaceful, and very spiritual. I think it is the way Jesus would want to be remembered, instead of nailed to a stake wearing a thorny crown.

sometimes the quiet, spiritual moments are all we have to hold on to - the rain can be cleansing, if we are willing to listen and be purified as it falls from the heavens - I close my eyes and envision the coming storm and it is beautiful - incredibly moving work, brian

    Errors

None that seem apparent to me.

    Overview

Don't really like the gray background with this piece, I don't feel it accentuates it in any way.

    Opinion

Second Jesus poem in a row I've read, but, that is ok. A good piece that you have written here.
