Seldom Look Back

Missing image

               Seldom look back,

               There are memories to remember

There are lessons you have learned.

Truly there are regrets, and mistakes

                You wish had never happened.

But every day brings another tomorrow.

Every day is a chance to make changes

Made in the mind and carried out

In one's life physically, spiritually, emotionally.

Every day that one has life, there is hope!

Hope for change, hope for healing.

Hope for their tomorrows and their dreams.

We all have regrets, but we learn through mistakes.

We learn to rethink, rebuild, to be visionaries!

For no one can change their past

But they can change their future

Not only for themselves but the one's they love

Besides others..So dream, that is how inventions

                 Were made, cities were built!

That is how we build our lives for life and love

Plus all the beauty that God has given us.

Go on living, loving, and dream!

Author notes

"So dream, that is how inventions were made, cities were built. That is how we build our lives for life, love.Go on living and never stop dreaming!

The first line was my absolute favorite! "Seldom look back" that's what I think all of us need to be told at least once in our lives. I need to learn to move on with the future & stop living for the past. I liked this poem a lot... keep up the wonderful writing.

This is a lovely picture to write for and about. Liked the sentiment you express so well in these lines; we all have regrets but they cannot hold us back. We learn from out mistakes and move on. Every day does bring some new opportunities for us to experience. Liked the ending you wrote here as well - go on living, loving and dream!

Good write - I love the quote you put into your author notes -

"So dream, that is how inventions were made, cities were built. That is how we build our lives for life, love. Go on living and never stop dreaming!"

    So true.

    repair ourselves

people make mistakes and mess up all the time sometimes we need to repair ourselves to repair things done wrong. things said that shouldn't have been said.life hands us leomons we must make lemonade.whatever we do we must do as best as we can.follow our hearts, try to live out our dreams and anything messed up can probaly be fixed.if it can't it wasn't worth bothering with.one must take life and love as well as we can.do good unto yourself and others.

I love this poem, It's a very good write, I just wish I could get it through my head. It's so hard to keep moving forward in life without letting what has already happened bog you down. I struggle with it everyday, Especially when something traumatic happens and you need to move on and you can't. Good write though...Thank you

I wish more people would realize you can't turn back time, what happened happened. Its okay to remeber memories as you said in such beautiful words, but don't dwell. It is good you got that concept, it can help you in life. Great Poem.

Very beautiful and uplifting write. Often times lifes troubles can you so down that we forget to dream, or hope. Much energy and thought, worries, are put into the most trivial problems, for when a new tomorrow arrives, new ones take their place...yet, life is about change, and growing, overcoming. You have penned some very soulful thoughts here, thanks for reminding me to dream.

    Well Done
    Sincerely,
    Sassy

a very inspiring poem, i'm not a big fan of non-rhyming poems, but i think yours was VERY good. i was at first going to comment on the two lines that are in your author notes also... they said, "so dream, that is how inventions were made, cities were built." i was going to say that it didnt really fit into the poem and its meaning because it takes away from the sorrow in the beginning and the hope in the middle and the will to move on in the end, but once i continued to read, i see what you were trying to do, and i think its a nice touch.

i really like how you built up the sorrow and brought back memories of the things we regret and then reassured us and brought back hope to life. great write, keep writing

You made me stop thinking of the painful memories and regret and want to keep going and dream of better days.Your poetry has a way of inspiring so many people I think.Wanting them not to give up and have happiness is evident in so many of your pieces. Thanks for picking me up and getting me going again.

    God Knows What To Think

I can change how I relate to my past at the very least, which is to change the past.

Do you know the concept "reification" (from "to reify")?

So far as poetry goes, the interrupted flows of panagyrics such as this
In my opinion seldom sows anything that shows
    in aught but summer suns,
for winters' stuns all into silence when leaves
subsist below snow and seldom do any know,
in the Biblical sense, how to worship...

    Not a Christian. Sorry.
    Nice sediment, though.
    May the rivers flow.

    Well Done, Rose

I liked the flow here of things thatoccur in our lives. For sure the past is past, and not one of us can change it. Tomorrow is our chance to improve, make changes that will result in happiness.
