Watching you slowly breathe,
The look of sadness but a trace of a smile.
I lay next to you,
watching you sleep.
You're at peace right now.
Nothing to stop me from looking.
I find that line, slowly following it.
Looking deeper into your mind.
Flashes again, this time something I saw.
A tear escapes me,
Rolls down my face and onto the pillow.
How sad you are.
My hand upon your chest,
Feeling your heart against it.
It's sadness that I feel,
It's the only thing I feel.
There is no anger,
There is no suffering,
No pain no torment.
All it is is sadness.
I move slightly,
Enough to rouse you.
The mask is back on
But for that minute I saw you.
Author notes
Watching him sleep for just those few minutes next to me, this is what I felt, what I saw. I love him.
