What brings your fingers to the keys,
bares your soul so the world sees?
What burns in your mind
until the words you find
set the thoughts free
like the wind in a tree?
Is it a love still burning,
that leaves your mind churning?
Is it gross injustice in the world political
showing "leaders" to be hypocritical?
Is it a memory of time past
charted poetically to make it last?
Is it pent-up indignation
for a cause given no consideration?
Is it the desire to re-live and to share
heated romantic intimacies, to dare?
Is it a longing for sharing,
to know someone is reading and caring?
Is it the empowerment of text,
the written word, wondering what's next?
Is it the release and relief
from hidden thoughts, a belief?
Is it the desire to tell a tale,
a tiny moment, or one as big as a whale?
What about you?
Do you care to reply
and to share what pushes your buttons,
the motivation on which you rely?
In a list
Words come alive when answered in kind.

What is this life if full of care
we have no time in which to share
our love of verse and poetry
in rhyme and rhythm, sometimes free
a poor life this if filled with care
we have no time our thoughts to share.

Good that you do take time to write,
to share your words day or night!!!
Thank you for searching out this early piece!

Poe- try ...
If wond'ring thoughts rouse sweet dreams through the night
Wandering schemes, browse the mind during the day.
What's revealed of stark gray - looks black and white,
Yet, splashes of color urge me to stay ...

Love it!!!
the wondering,
the night, the day,
the splashes of color!
Like minds...

The answer is: "All of the above." Well except maybe the wanting to share my words one. Very few folk read my stuff...but I'd rather have a few good readers like you, xoPJ and MarizaMoonloverGoes than a thousand "Wow, keep up the good work" type commentators.
But I digress, lol
Sometimes when I write it's like a fire (ok, that is a little overly dramatic) but the inspiration fills me. Ok, so the results are usually rather tepid, still the process is fun.
What pushes my buttons? I have buttons? Don't bash Moxie, that would push a button.

Keystone shuffles his feet, Aw shucks mam. The fact is, Keystone is an excellent creative writer, with wit, wisdom, and wiley-ness (is that a word. it is now...), and his fiery inspirations are appreciated and enjoyed.
Thanks for the mention, by the way, I did not think anyone but Aesthete knew I was here ~ (I'm not very chatty) (but I'm glad for those who are)

I know you are here. I think I've read all you've written, if not I'll correct that. If I didn't read it as Key I may have as Yem or Ima. I appreciate that you, A2000 and MariGoes/Gaze read my stuff. You guys are smart critters and more than that, your perceptive, intuitive and introspective...if those things are different from intellect.
Being able to interpret what you read is a gift, not many people on AP seem to have it, or at least not many people use it.
I'm done. People pick on me for sounding elitist when I talk like that.
And even though I blab a lot in comments and silly writings I'm not chatty either. I'm about as introverted as they come. -

Well, I don't think you're elitist -- I think you're quite clever. The theater idea is super. I read a lot, but don't leave many comments. I don't have enough brains or quick wits to leave good comments, and don't want to flit around saying things like oh how sweet...
You and your alter-egos are fun to try to sort!

*Aesthete enters doing the Moxie bow.
Re the fire: the reader can sense it,
the "carried away" feeling that sweeps into your work,
pulling in the reader along with you, enmeshing
the onlooker!
Sharing: I like to look back, after the work is posted,
see it again, my new creation, one that did not exist
moments before. I am very visual, need the illustration
and the words.
I share your feelings about readers. I am loyal to the
people I read, so they know they can count on me to read
and reply. Too many and the life that surrounds us
would be short-changed, as there are not enough hours
in the day to do everything one needs to and wants to do.
And, thanks to you, I now know and treasure Mari and maa.

Hey, what a treat. Looky at the animated fractal! This I have especially enjoyed in the August Memories series, and will re-read for pleasure, and to allow its deepening to settle into words.

All of the above!!!
Thanks for asking ;-)

That's the joy of reading your work,
the pent up indignation, realizations,
from cold to hot!
