and we all had our reasons for what we did
We need more then memorized actions

The end was written
long before the title was chosen
Written in ink before the author was known
Standing in the rain
The sand of my life's hourglass
is gradualy slipping away
The bell tower tolls- half past one
The sky has stars in it's eyes
I wonder if anybody out there even knows we're here
It's a long way down to the bottom
to the bottom...and we're still falling
We've got all the reasons
for why we did the things we still do
Stealing time
Betraying our souls with another fake Amen
And the cars go by
Chicken noodle soup and five bucks in your pocket
Looking up you wonder just how far you've fallen
How far and away
Empty bottles become broken ones
and what on earth or heavon above or hell below
is it all for
We're the antibiotics for the poison that is the world
We're the choice you make, the steps you take
walking along a double edged sword
I've lost so much time
and I know we've got our reasons
Butterfly kisses at the bedroom door
gunshots and pencils in the halls and on the classroom floors
Under-Estimated dreams and Un-Realistic fears
Bible study Saturday night
and we've all got our reasons why
The forks in the road and the seeds we've all sown
have brought us here
There is a storm brewing and thorns with no roses
and the sand is all but gone
It's a long way down
and we've got our reasons why

How far will we fall
Though Heaven is but further along
Don't hold the gates open for us
I don't think we'll make it that far

It's obvious to me alot of thought went into this piece. You've got some really good images and word choices. I like the repetition of 'we all have our reasons'. Also the ending is quite powerful. Overall, a well written poem. Best wishes and thank you for entering.

It is a very moving and complex poem. I understand the basic theme, yet there is a lot I just don't get. I sense shades of Armageddon, the comedy/tragedy of life, and the obvious reference to Hell. You have some interesting imagery in this one.
