Zen Again: Stillness Is (reposted)

Without hard intent,
The arrow looses itself
And the archer flies,
Greeted and grasped
By the waiting target
As all sit silently
Within the quiet quiver...

Empty minded,
The sharp sword parries,
Effortless arcs of steely stillness
Slicing shimmering sunlight...

Dancing in simple being,
The flower places itself
Amidst its sisters
So all shine together...

Motionlessly,
The tea pours
Its steaming savor
As lips partake
Of the sweetness of essence...

Ghostly silent,
The heart dances
Within the morning fog
Sitting softly in meditation
Along the valley floor...

So sings...

The sweet song...

Of Stillness.

Only when you know the thing from within can you write like this, Rahad. I am thrilled. So simple and yet a very difficult state to fall into. Yes, 'fall into' is the expression I want, and not 'attain'. Just being, watching unexcited and yet feeling each pulse. I am experimenting whether I can take this recently-found awareness into a mad world of competition, staying clear of it and yet playing along. I earn my bread from journalism, you know. Journalists mix with the maddest section of the society, the people in power, the people after wealth and fame. And the madness we see around us an extremely contageous disease.

    Congratulations!

I had a headache today, which I get when I hold things too tightly. You are right, I don't have to tie my identity to the process. The work will get done, and more easily if I am focused on it rather than myself.
This poem is remarkable in the lack of persons in the process - a target to aim for. The images are dynamic, but have no doer.
Thank you for your presence and help.

      You're welcome...

...and thank you! Wei wu wei or doing-not doing, is the eastern way of non-ado, the effortless effort. We have much to learn from the zen masters in nature, the plants and animals around us. I'm always glad to share and help and grow alongside my friends.

      Be peace,

      Rahad
