The pure white of the pearl
lay against her soft neck.
"Tilt your head this way" he coaxed.
He always knew how to manipulate,
either his brush or his subjects.
For Beauty was a well sought after friend in his eyes.
He created it himself,
or stole anothers for his use.
Much praise was aquitted his name,
though not all was due.
Shut away in his room,
for hours and hours.
Sometimes with nothing to produce.
Although he died young,
he lived on eternally.
If not, but through, his manipulation.
His brush, his paints, his picturesque scenes,
but mainly through one source.
That of which was,
The Girl with the Pearl Earring.

This is a great piece! Someone I know did her own version of the painting a while ago. I saw it in progress every few days, so this brings back some vivid memories. Thanks for sharing!

This was an extremely good poem. The flow was good, and the emotion was there. The only thing is, the rules state that you must put the event in your author's note. Please do so soon, as the contest is ending tomorrow.
Thanks for entering the contest!
Write on.
