I sit broken on the floor
Close my eyes
And I can still see your face.
I sit with my back against the wall
Listening to broken records
Sweet songs stuck
Repeating
Repeating all the things
That I pretended not to know.
I walk over to the window
Lean my face against the glass.
I watch the cars fly by,
I watch the days
Blurred across my memory.
I think I understand now
But it's much too late;
No use now to a broken bird
In an old army coat.
Underneath my clothes
My skin doesn't fit right;
Not enough room inside
For all the little monsters
That I didn't know were there
Until today.
They told me their names
But I've forgotten now,
Another thing I
Never meant to let go,
Picked up by the wind
That runs through my head.
Everything happened so fast
And then it was gone
But I still see your face
Every time I close my eyes.
