I wish my life was over
I think about it everyday
For if my life was over
This hurt would melt away
I wish my life was over
So I could touch the skies so blue
And when my life is over
I won't be hurting over you
Please God let my life be over
And give me some peace of mind
And God when my life is over
Be with those I leave behind
I wish my life was over
As I stand along heaven's shore
Now that my life will be over
I won't be hurting anymore
When my life is over
In God's arms is where I'll be
For once my life is over
He'll be watching over me
I look to my life being over
Like the coming of the sun
And when my life is over
This heartache will then be undone
I wish my life was over
And now I step into the light
Now that my life is over
Alas' my world is alright
Author notes
Life is like a cigarette...You can toke on it for awhile but, sooner or later it's gonna burn out.

Where do I start my friend? Every line of this poem worked so well with each other. The melody underlying the words, the emotions - all pulls together to make the perfect poem. I wish it was in my contest!

I've definitely felt like this before. Is life anymore painful than death? When we die, the pain is over, yet we only have one chance to live. Knowing that, it seems as though we should just be able to forget about the pain, but that seems to be impossible. I guess pain is what lets us know that life is real, that we're alive. Wonderful piece and I hope you don't really feel like this because it really does suck, for lack of a better word.
Great write. -
