Is God Listening?

Sometimes life gets too much for me
I take a breath and sigh,
And ask the Lord again -
Please Lord, tell me why?

I wonder if He heard me,
And so I ask again,
And wait for His answer,
But I'll wonder when.

Sometimes it takes ages,
And I've had to wait,
God's going to answer one day,
Only HE knows the date!

My burdens get too heavy
I can't take it any more -
Then Jesus reminds me -
That's what His yoke is for!

I have other reminders
I only have to think,
He's promised if I'm thirsty
I come to Him and drink.

His Presence will go with me
And He will give me rest,
Many times I've prayed,
And put Him to this test.

But when I can look back
Way into my past
I've noticed there's been times
His answers have been fast.

And there has been other times
By looking in my heart
That God has answered me
Before my prayer can start!

But still, life can get too much for me
I take a breath and sigh,
And ask the Lord again -
Please Lord, tell me why?

    Excellent

I can relate. The hardest thing for me has been to be conscious, always, of the fact that God is always listening and responding to not only our prayers but all aspects of our being. Always. It has been only me that refuses to listen. "Having ears, they hear not", the Lord told us. But it's Okay because in the end all things work themselves out for the best. I'm just learning to get out of His way, "His will be done" and relax in His promise.

on a religious viewpoint the poem asks the same question many do.
    On a poetic viewpoint:-
And ask the Lord again -
    Please Lord, tell me why?
May have better rythm with double please,(Please, please tell me why)
perhaps also revisit teach stanza and examine the possibility of replacing "and"

I wonder if He heard me,
And so I ask again,(so I ask of him again)
And wait for His answer,(still waiting on his answer)
But I'll wonder when.(wondering as to when)

Keep up the work and keep writing, these are by no means professional critisism's just personal preferences.

I'd like to know how he answered you. i like to see some reason to beleive because i honestly don't think i do no matter how much i want to, i can only pretend but when i face myself honestly i don't. this is a comforting concept but not the truth.

This is a universal question and If I am not preaching you know the answer of it..just try to look inside..and you may find the answers of your question..a great work is here though..quite natural and wonderfully stated as well..well done....

Every Christian has had some doubt in God from time to time. This illustrates those uncertainities perfectly. Nice work!

I really liked this, sometimes it seems are prayers are never answered but sometimes the best one are the unanswered prayers.
