Long Live the Dream

The Dream is Dead and with it fear
But no deep vibrating omm sounds now
Homage left unpaid and invoice clear
Yet buried in my heart there rings a bell so low.

The Dream is Dead, it quietly passed
Left a fading, faltering, speechless ghost
Unheralded, although the passing was not fast
Unrecognized as what was wanted most.

The Dream is Dead, there is no time to mourn
Because the hours still so swiftly fly
Filled with too much that is of too little born
We become so good at sacrifice before we die.

The Dream is Dead, long live the Dream
Let us remember it with tales and toasts of old
When we still believed there would be balance on the beam
When we were never tired, and ever-bold.

the repetition works and the progression of phrases after the repetitive statements builds the poem steadily. I love the line "When we still believed there would be balance on the beam". Great write!

"now" and "low" are look alike words but do not rhyme.

Your quatrains bring the reality of dreams that are deferred and even fizzle out after a time. The dream may be dormant but it is my hope that it never dies. The sad part of it all is; if we cannot dream we cannot know the vision of what shall be. You poem makes the reader seek to dream even more. An excellent topic to write from. I wish you the best in this challenge my friend.

now and low don't rhyme - perhaps sounds to know rather than "sounds now"
