The pain is deadly,
It's hard to breathe.
Your death has killed me,
just like a knife in my heart.
My pain is eternal,
as long as you're not here I slowly die.
When you left my life was over,
I relive that day always.
It was years ago,
it may as well been today.
Author notes
My fiancee died in his sleep at 39. I blame myself always. Could I have done something to save him? He never woke up. I can never get over it, my love is still just as strong, he was my soulmate, my other half.

This is a deeply poignant and touching poem that was painful to read. I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. It seems almost silly now to wish you best of luck in my contest, which seems so irrelevant in light of such a tragedy, but it's common courtesy, so thanks for submitting this very emotional poem.
