Warm, delicious, tempting deep red
My throat ached, longing for blood
I couldn’t bear to see your limp head
As you died, and you left me forever
My tears became a flood
Why did you have to be there?
We were alone, and it was dark out
It smelled so good, your long dark hair
That alley was not a place for you
Everyone in town heard my shout
If only I had hunted yesterday
The pain would have been much less
I didn’t have to kill, I could go another way
Your scent was horribly magnificent
Why, I cannot guess
I hated being a bloodsucker, a vampire
For decades, I had resisted
But your scent burned me like fire
I gave in, and my instincts took over
So many reasons I had listed
Reasons not to drink human blood
It made me even more of a monster
Your cheeks pooled with blood, red as a rosebud
Who were you to torture me like this?
I wanted it so badly I ignored what you were
Whether you were human or animal
I really didn’t care
I won’t object if you think me worse than a cannibal
Then everything changed fast as the wind
With a single gust of fresh air
I could finally think reasonably again
I probably should have been glad
Precipitation was absent, I was lucky there was no rain
Decades of effort had kept me from the blood of humans
Ruining it now would be far beyond just bad
I think it was your eyes that saved me
Wide, innocent, unknowing, and afraid
They made me feel guilty, and sorry
You rescued me from the monster that was myself
I wouldn’t drink your blood then, no matter what anyone said
Every day now I wonder
What your blood would have tasted like
For this, let me be struck by lightning and deafened by thunder
Believe me, I do NOT regret not drinking your blood
I’m sorry if that’s what it sounded like
It might not be likely, but still
I think some day we’ll meet again
My hope can’t be squashed, it has a firm will
I can’t blame you if you hate me
But I hope when we meet, you’ll think of me as a friend
My throat ached, longing for blood
I couldn’t bear to see your limp head
As you died, and you left me forever
My tears became a flood
Why did you have to be there?

Author notes
I decided to write this poem because I was inspired by several characters from the Twilight books, and, of course, Stephenie Meyer, the amazing author of the books Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse.
Please tell me what you think.

I've never read the books these are based off of but you wrote this well, I love the content in it, it is kind of a conflict but hope prevails in the end.

Thank you, sugar

It is dark but light at the same time. I really liked it. Keep writing. One day I bet it will pay off.
