The Secret

And all great minds of history,
have solved the secret mystery.
A soul technique that’s so refined,
the secret of the human mind.

Men like Plato and Socrates
and other great ones just like these,
have used the secret so refined;
the secret of the human mind.

The secret has been guarded well
but heed my words and I will tell;
so you will never more be blind.
The secret of the human mind.

Control of human reaction,
is that of human attraction.
So turn around and look behind,
the secret of the human mind.

Yet thinkers such as you and me,
have learned it through our poetry.
So look within and you will find,
the secret of the human mind.

 

 

 

Author notes

Kyrielle

  A Kyrielle is a French form of rhyming poetry written in quatrains (a stanza consisting of 4 lines), and each quatrain contains a repeating line or phrase as a refrain. Each line within the poem consists of only eight syllables. There is no limit to the amount of stanzas a Kyrielle may have, but three is considered the accepted minimum. Some popular rhyming schemes for a Kyrielle are: aabB, ccbB, ddbB, with B being the repeated line, or abaB, cbcB, dbdB.

    This is one book I have intended to read but still haven't. I think I got sidetracked by learning to write poetry! hehe! This is a lovely form and I love the way it kind of has a lilting quality to it... Definately on the I have to try it list!!!

    I'm trying to get a feeling for some of the forms, so I come to you I like this form, I think I'll try it...sometime...soon.

    I love this poem! It has such great rhythm and flow, and is almost matter-of-fact in tone, yet has that element of softness to it, some mystery too. Well, I don't know, I like how it reads. And I love rhyme.

    Makes you think as well, such insight to us humans and how our minds work...or so we think

    Such a sophisticated verse here. I am in awe of your time and effort here. Loved the topic and loved the choice of rhyme. The refrain was also a clever choice. Try some more Kyrielles, they are very good and you are superb at them.

    I just wish you had included Pyrrho. He and Plato are the ones who really cracked the mystery... It is true that the human mind cannot comprehend itself. No way, nohow. It can, however, manage itself quite well. This is the secret. I am pleased with your spiritual writings of late. They earn extra kudos from me.

    i like it alot

    this is cool. i really like it, very smooth and a easy read. its alomost mysterious in ways... and it makes you think differently... and other than that i am at a loss for words. beautifully written.

    You have penned a perfect kyrielle here and your choice of subject is even better. It is the human mind that is filled with thoughts from all we see and do in life. Your rhythm and rhyme are superb and it flowed like a meandering river softly between the trees.     Beautiful write and great message. I so agree. I think that through thought people can accomplish so much. I think people don't think as much as they should these days. Plato and Socrates weren't afraid of sharing their thoughts about life and people of today shouldn't either whether they are philosophers, poets or whomever. Best of luck in the contest.

    Rhyming poems entertain my wandering mind.

    I really like this form; I think rhyming poems sound much better when they have eight syllables on each line. I'll definately have to try! ^^

    And some people do need to learn the secret on how to use minds, don't they?

    This was such an insightful poem; I absolutely loved the read!
