Good-bye.
I’m writing to you.
This is just to let you know
I’m thanking you for begging me not go.
But I know I’ve got to move on.
I’ve got other friends and things (like me)
To work on….
But I say, Good-bye,
You’re not alone nor am I.
I know I’m not the best companion
Or the easiest thing to see and speak to.
But I’m saying, Good-bye, at least…
At least you always told me what I should do.
The road seems long to go where I’ve been.
I think I’ll be sad to see some of those things again.
But traveling has always been my thing.
You’d think I’d get tired with broken wings.
But, Good-bye, You know I’ve got to go.
And begging me is not the thing to do.
Good-bye.
I’m writing to you.
This is just to let you know
I had to go.
Please tell me what you think

Well likewise as far as the commenting in concerned. I seem to be the last to visit this page. Good piece, very emotional which is a good way to get some reads. Very easily relatable, good language and despite its sadness, it was still fun to read.

I really liked the feel to this, very lyrical, actually. While reading it a tune kind of came into my head. This is a really mature way to say good-bye, I think. When you read it, it's more like you read the moving on to move on with life, not the moving on to escape. Well done.

Wonderful
I loved this. I totally get it since I just broke up with my boyfriend after a year. I knew I had to say good bye and move on even though I loved him. But reading your poem made me support my decision! So thanks. It's a great write. I love the repetition of good bye.
