Who is going to tell me
when the sun will rise?
who is going to tell me
when I can breathe?
held up in this execrate
I seek relief
among the stars
tolerating war
speaking out
as often as possible
yet it is of no use
no one is listening
they turn their backs
as day turns into night
will I ever see the sun again?
all I can do is wish
wishing upon a falling star
maybe someday my wish will come true
speaking to the fireflies
listening to the moon
dancing with the trees
sleeping among the flowers
one day
the sun will rise
until then I'll sway
to the music of the night
say "Good Morning"
and the sun will rise
say "Good Night"
and I will sleep
sleep forever
to never see the sun again
when the sun will rise?
who is going to tell me
when I can breathe?
held up in this execrate
I seek relief
among the stars
tolerating war
speaking out
as often as possible
yet it is of no use
no one is listening
they turn their backs
as day turns into night
will I ever see the sun again?
all I can do is wish
wishing upon a falling star
maybe someday my wish will come true
speaking to the fireflies
listening to the moon
dancing with the trees
sleeping among the flowers
one day
the sun will rise
until then I'll sway
to the music of the night
say "Good Morning"
and the sun will rise
say "Good Night"
and I will sleep
sleep forever
to never see the sun again

You speak from your heart, Poet! I felt it...
"maybe someday my wish will come true
speaking to the fireflies
listening to the moon
dancing with the trees
sleeping among the flowers"
Beautiful!
Good luck in the contest, NastyNickie.

The fact that you wrote it and wanted to share it with Wanda (Night Hope) is what matters. This is lovely - thank you so much for this gesture of kindness.

truly enjoyed this. nice peice really. my only comment is that i dont care for the repitition of wish. perhaps i might try, all I can do is wish
upon a falling star
and hope that it shall all come true" obviously, choose your own words and be creative with it. but i just feel it's a bit too repetitive. -
"no one is listening
they turn their backs
as day turns into night
will I ever see the sun again?"
You might be surprised who is listening, even if you can't see them. Just like the movie, "It's a Wonderful Life", we touch so many lives unaware. I've said this before & I'll say it some more. It isn't easy to be a human being, alive in this world. It's even more difficult to be a Poet. We are the Keepers of the Gate, the last line of defense between survival & living. It is a task we should be honored by, for we are the voices of our cultures. We are the disciples of Love, the apostles of Compassion. Please continue sharing your gift with the world; the world needs all the Poets it can hold. Thank you for your kindness is writing this piece. Good luck in the contest.
