Clockwork

The moldy clock in the hallway picks up dust,
boring and clunky as it is ancient,
with gears insignificant constantly replaced,
any gear just to fit a given role,
any name little but vanity,
the true name is in the gear's function.

The gears drive hands round and round the face,
pointing everywhere and nowhere,
going around in circles,
the same different parts
do the same different things,
and the tick-and-tock
cycles and the minutes and hours
fly by, the clock still unchanged

Trying to be subtle. Yeah, I'm as subtle as a meataxe, what of it?

Well, Djinn, it may have been a little too subtle for me. I have no idea what the point is. Therefore, while I admire your word arrangements and interesting phrasing, I can't give you an honest critique because I don't have a clue as to what you were trying to say. sorry. cq
