Children frolicing
in the yard
their innocence
not yet lost
I hope growing older
hasn't made me hard
does adulthood
have its cost
Can I still believe
in fairies
with shimmery
golden dust
will Christmas still
be marry
or is scroogery
now a must
May I still make a wish
when blowing out candles
upon my
birthday cake
do you think it may
cause a serious scandel
if I were to skinny dip
in the lake
Playing on
monkey bars
while visiting
the park
catching fireflies
in Ball jars
in the summertime
after dark
My face my start
to look its age
but that's
alright with me
It's a part of life
another stage
the way it's
ment to be
These are things
I wonder about
as I am
getting older
I'm young at heart
there is no doubt
even as the wrinkles
are becoming bolder
Author notes
I have a birthday coming up, can you tell? How depressing.
Please tell me what you think

Fairies, skinny dipping, and monkey bars...still some of my favorite things! Oh, but how I do miss catching those lightning bugs with my daughter...they don't fly here unfortunately. Anyway, thanks for trip down memory lane. And as for your birthday, I'm just glad you're here to blow out those candles. (and for the record, what wrinkles??)
