He died for me to live
Why did he do that?
He could have lived and let me die
But no he could not do that
He gave his life
So I could live
He was a hero, a friend
And the most selfish person I knew
And yet
Here I stand
The one left alive
Because he threw himself
In front of the bullet
Meant for me
He gave his life
The most selfless act
He could make
So that I would see another day

I like it. point blank. But then I'm married to simplicity. lol

Thank you for the entry, but although you did well and stayed on topic with this poem, I think it was a little too simply written. There was no description of this friend besides that he was originally "selfish" which would have been great if you had described it a little more. The idea of a textbook "selfish person" giving his life in a selfless act to save someone is wonderful, but I need more. I want more. There needed to be a lot more to this than what it is. I'd love to see it with a little meat.
