An ember is building into a great fire
As I watch it rises higher and higher
What is this? It has stopped growing
Hey wait! The lights have dimmed and now its glowing
The flame drew nearer and motioned to the sea
Then from the flame echoed an apathetic voice
It said it was here and "...to come with me"
I withdrew and asked,"What's my other choice?"
Taking human form it looked at me and laughed
A rod in his hand with a blade in the shaft
Once I saw that awful tool I knew who with I was dealing
I thought why me, why now. I knew this awful feeling
The feeling is slow but steady, an emotional creeper
I knew at once that I stood before the reaper

I somewhat enjoyed this piece
I felt inspired to write this after hearing of all the terrible things happening in this world and I was reminded of the works of Edgar Allen Poe, so I wanted to try a poem like that -
Good form, imagery was simple marvelous ^-^
It said it was here and "...to come with me"
I withdrew and asked,"What's my other choice?"
Always wishing there was another option, besides death. Everyone's got an anxiety about death, no matter what reason. I liked this stanza, it just highlighted this point.
