Perched haphazardly on top of
A speaker
A stack of books captures
My attention
So random they are
Nonfiction hanging out with fiction
Sci-fi mingling with mystery
Adventure and horror happily
Mixing together
There is no sense to
Their order
Hardcover and paperback
Anthologies and novels
They sit there
On top of that speaker
In such an awkward position that they
Seem ready to fall
And yet they don’t
Easily they rise though crooked
They are
How reminiscent of life
The fragility of the stack
Mimics that of life
One bump and everything comes
Crashing down

It is a very beautiful poet written in a quite simple way. I love the way you have presented this poem. Great work dear.

This is such a smart poem. It's not complicated, but made so good, I really like it. I'm going to reread it a couple of times. Great job!

^_^ great write. I like how you related the books to life itself. It has humor to it as well. I try not to have any books on places...because i get yelled at so i just scatter them all over by the side of my bed.
Great write, lovely read.

Wonderful images here! Books imitating what a peaceful, diverse world might look like. Books of all shapes, sizes, and types seeming to find balance and order among themselves. Yet, it only takes one small outside force to disrupt the balance. Life and bookstacks ... so much in common. Great write! Thanks for sharing this one. ....JustBreathe
