Forever addicted to the one who seems blinded to me,
As I am to him.
Forever addicted to the love that seems forever lost.
With every one else telling me i could do better.
Forever addicted to your eyes, and your gentleness,
the caresses at night that makes all the nightmares go away.
Forever addicted to the attention i need,
That always seems to get pushed aside for every thing else in the day.
Forever addicted to the one that holds me,
The one that i have only known.
Forever addicted to staying by your side,
Although all my dreams seem to waver and drown.
Forever addicted to you and your dreams,
As i swallow and drown,
for i have died to being addicted to you.

Love is the hardest addiction to kick and can be the deadliest, although it can be a damn good high. The problem is, when you come down from it, where did the happiness go? ...excellent write, poet...

Yeap. You have caught a lot of what it means to be co-dependent very nicely. It is an addiction. Totally, terriblely, until there is no life but the high provided by the lover. The anger, the lows forgotten for one moment of tenderness, one caress to make all the rest go away. Well written.
Love, Tom B.

addiction is about the only word that describes my "love" for the man that fathered my children. this could go along with some other addictions, but for me its about the only one it applies to. when anger flares the tenderness is always forgotten, but then making up, the tenderness drowns out the pain from ealier. thanks for your kind words, and blessed be my friend.

I like that you used a lot of different options. this is a very relateable piece.
"Although all my dreams seem to waver and drown.
Forever addicted to you and your dreams,
As i swallow and drown,
for i have died to being addicted to you."
this was a great ending to the poem!
