A child in the night
Looking scared and unsure
Is what I am
I wish to be more

Don’t know where to go
Don’t know where mummy is
With strangers looking to use me
And to lead me amiss

Young and vulnerable
Small and naive
Running in the dark
Don’t know how to leave

Watches the world go by
Never understanding what I see
But no one knows I am this way
This little girl's inside me

This little girl learnt early on
To live means to keep them out
With metal walls and deadly falls
This is truly the only route

The others see her more grown up
And yet more immature than the rest
For them not to know how they scare her so
Is really what is best

So she continues her solitary run
In the night in the dark shes alone
Always looking for a safe place
That one place to call home
