Carried along by the wind
dull, drab, brown
tiny, insignificant.
Arousing
no excitement
or interest,
just indifference.
Carried along by the wind
unnoticed,
uncared for.
Where it goes
nobody knows,
nobody cares.
Just a seed,
signifying insignificance
Carried along by the wind
to a place unknown.
Carrying in its heart;
the seeds of the future
a number infinite.
To spread and sprout
and grow
and spread some more
Like a million others,
tiny, insignificant,
unnnoticed, uncared for,
unreflected upon.
Spread by winds, birds,
human hands..
Carrying in their hearts,
The springs of tomorrow;
Brilliant hues,
intoxicating fragrances,
a thousand flavours,
sustenance…
for the mind and body
and spirit
A million seeds…
carrying in their hearts
The joys of tomorrow;
Wildflower meadows,
forests, orchards
gardens, fields.
A million seeds…
Carrying in their hearts,
the hopes of tomorrow;
Food and shade,
Shelter and
joy,
beauty, tranquility
And Peace!

Very well done. You take the insignificance and show us just how significant it truly is. I love your approach to the topic. It is direct, but at the same time it is very intricate.
Thanks for enterring and giving me a chance to read it. Good luck in the contest.

I agree this is a lovely poem and it does put into ones mind that from the smallest seed can spring a beautiful flower or from the acorn the mighty oak, very well written with the repitition emphaisisng the smallness of the original seed, well done

Thanks for sharing such a delightful poem. I just loved it. Sometimes I feel so overwhelmed by the quality of talent here on AP.

This is very beautiful and I am so glad you shared it with all of us here.The seed has so much within and noone can see all that it carries until it becomes manifest.All of us are seeds too in some respect we come into the world carrying within the world so to speak. In time to fulfill the promises....Best wishes.

The seed, is the heart of everything, the beginning, and the end of the cycles, ...from the seed a life is born, to grow ...then mature, itself to give seed, perhaps once or countless times before it too, withers to the dust to become the fertile land that succesive seeds will find root in.... to propogate and flourish, as life, never ending.....
peace....

I think you did an incredibly wonderful job in writing your fist poem... Great! Just great! It was very beautifully written...
and if with a bit of luck the seed grows up as a weed in a garden, people uproot it and discard it in the bin.... some never get chance to recoup... I agree with Raven Aurora that this applies to human race too... keep on writing... please let me know when you write the next poem... thanx for sharing...

This is cool! At first the seed is an unwanted item, being tossed about by the wind and unnoticed by anyone. But when you explore the heart (and I believe everything has a heart), it is almost as if you have released hope from Pandora's box. Maybe those seeds are not as insignificant as they appear on the outside. This applies to people, too--the main person who's ignored by everyone because they "don't fit in" could be the one to become famous, find the cures for incurable diseases or find new ways to cultivate life one day. Not bad for your first poem...I don't even have my very first work anymore, and it sucked anyway!
Many blessings,
Raven Aurora
