Mother's Wry Grin

I got saved
the day you
rusted into
a minivan

all the cargo
you used to
carry cooked
on the pavement

your old self
was struggling
as a waitress in
a lousy restaurant
and you left
her there

still collecting
tips from
truckers and
fuckers who
couldn’t turn
on a woman

the new you
learned mechanics
like how to
change a tire
and hot wire
a Chevy

you were half
way to Philly
before I loved you

and half way
to hell before
I blamed you
for making me
ugly

wow I loved this piece. I loved the bittersweet tone of it. It stared and ended greatly.
This was completely fantastic and I wish [I really do] I could say more about this but I'm speechless at the moment.

I love this. It reminds me faintly of my relationship with my own mother. Wonderful work.
