In this life...

In this life...

You have to reach for the unattainable,

before it is well beyond your grasp.

You have to be open to all of loves' possibilities,

before something special passes you by.

You have to get in your car and drive,

if you are ever going to see the places you've read about.

You have to walk with your head held high,

no matter who tries to dictate it's position.

You have to choke on pride,

before you lose the chance to say to say, "I'm sorry."

You have to forget you were ever angry,

so as to leave memories of hope for the next generation.

You have to wipe away tears swiftly,

or a moment of pure bliss will pass you by.

it's interesting that this is one of the last poems pit (puzzledone121) commented on, he passed away two months later.

    sexual healin'!

oh geez. you've got something goin' on here.

i almost dont want to comment because it is 'unfinished', but its beautiful. i generally shy away from pieces that are so commanding and less reflective, but there is some talent and thought behind these words.
' You have to choke on pride,
before you lose the chance to say to say, "I'm sorry." ' - one i could use some work on, haha.

    great piece. keep it up.

i agree, grab at anything you desire before it moves away... the opportunity costs of living gets heavier and heavier ...lost too many already, besides, you never know...death just might be around the corner, waiting to trip you...lol thanks for visiting my site...wish you well

this reads like a passionate proverb. and i like it. i think i understand what you're sayin or tryin to say in the first 2 lines...but i'm not totally sure. the nature of unattainable seems to never be within grasp in my experience. anyways my favorite line is:You have to walk with your head held high,
no matter who tries to dictate it's position.
    excellent write my friend
