that I was "banging on walls of ivory".
When I awoke, I said to my spouse,
"I know this dream holds a message for me."
I knew that I would discover
what my dream was all about.
I went to the library that same day
and took a "featured" book out.
The next day I read the book
while sitting in a beauty shop.
When I got to the third page,
I felt my mouth drop.
The book was about Bell Labs,
a place where I wanted to work.
I had tried very hard to get hired,
and was starting to feel like a jerk.
I had only read a few pages
when these words caused me to pause...
Bell Labs is referred to as "the ivory tower"
because it has "ivory walls".
I now knew the meaning of my dream,
and was eager to tell my beautician
about my dream and the featured book
and about my premonition.
I wasn't supposed to be there that day,
my beautician had changed my appointment,
a stranger heard me as I spoke
and listened with amazement.
She told me she worked at Bell Labs,
in fact, she was a coordinator.
She said she thought I would fit right in
and told me to call her later.
I got the job I'd been fighting for,
it happened with such ease!
All because of a dream that I had...
Will wonders never cease?
Author notes
2. A lucky personal incident..."LUCKY ME, I had that dream and got the job I wanted."
What is most amazing to me about this dream
is the fact that I was so SURE I would find out
what my dream meant. I had faith in myself
and was in tune with the universe. The dream
and what followed taught me to believe in synchronicity..."meaningful coincidence".

Dreams do come true. This poem made me smile, it was well written and gave hope to the reader for those times when we dream and that dream comes true. Kudos on a great write. God bless you.
Peace and love,

You felt like talking about your dreams, and the right ears were there to hear. That is an amazing coincidence, so much that I think heaven had a hand in it. I have had a few lucky breaks that convince me that this is possible. Your poem carried me through this tale very easily, a joy to read. Best of luck in the voting.

Dear Maureen,
Isn't it wonderful how you had the dream and you knew there was a message there for you. I'm glad you found the book with Ivory walls in it and then to meet the Lady who gave you the job! WOW! Amazing!
Very beautifully written my dear Maureen.
Love Hine.

It's a "pinch yourself, can it be so?" story followed by a joyful "YESSS!" Prescience in dreams is well known, for most of us have had such a dream, more often warning of danger ahead, not to be ignored. Great to see a happy kind.
Good luck in the competition.

Dear Maureen,
You certainly were lucky that day when you spoke to the lady who happened to work at the place you had been trying to get a job at. How fantastic is that?
A terrific write Maureen.

Dear Maureen,
I somehow missed this when you posted it before.
Dreams are amazing! Especially when they have a message in them. Even though you weren't meant to be there on that day> You were and it was to read the article in the magazine.
Well written my Soul/Sister Friend.
Love Joan

Dear Maureen
I know these are from your pen as I remember this story about your dream and how it remninded me of a poem "I Dreamt I Dwelt in Ivory Halls" (but the poet's name just escapes me for the moment - C R A F T again!!)
"There are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamed of in our philosophy....."
The amazing thing to me is that you needed to go to a "beauty shop"! What could any beautician do to improve upon your perfection? (Yes! I have your picture - sent to me in 2003 when I enrolled you as one of my early favourites.)
A very fitting entry to our contest. Good luck in the voting.
Applause, love and hugs, XXX Hugh (R.)

divine
divine intervention conveyed in a divine write.the truth of this just enhances its beauty.you are a prolific writer and i am not at all surprised at the way you penned your dream in such poetic
revelry.good luck -
Oh lordy! What a great dream and a great happenstance (and a great write!). I remember well as a young child learning to ride bicycle "no hands" and the night before my first successful ride, I dreamed the ride in detail. Of course I've also had dreams that are so bizarre, any resemblance to them real life would surely suggest an all-expenses-paid vacation at the sanitarium
Good luck in the contest.

haunting and lovely
Ah...thank you so very much - both for the quite excellent poem and the wonderful reminder that there is active participation in our lives by a loving Force. You cheered and humbled me. We so often seem to need to be reminded that the world holds mysteries beyong our understanding and that not one momentary event happens through accident. Sweets, you have given me yet another priceless gift. Thank you so much for sharing this...I feel about it much the same as you felt about your prophetic dream.

Everything's connected.
Good write.

WOW, this is an amazing write, and an amazing story!!! I myself don't believe in coincidences. I believe everything happens for a reason and sometimes we are given little glimpses of the future.. beit in dreamform or whatever..if we only look for the signs. It's great how this all came about for you...the dream, the situation at the beautician's...thank you for sharing this wonderful story!!! very well done!!

What a wonderful story! Yes...I think some people thing dreams are nothing more than a free version of entertainment, rather than a movie from the video store...The dreams are significant, and usually tell us much about ourselves if we will only begin to pay attention to them, and use them to see within ourselves. Too often, people don't even make conscious attempts to remember them or ponder over. While it is true that some are far-fetched and may appear silly (or frightening)it is the child (or terror) within us that is momentarily escaping from the boundaries our conscious minds use to restrain them.
Synchronicity? yes...Nothing is left to "coincidence" ...everything happens for a reason - although we are not always aware at the time of how it might affect us.
This is a wonderful dream, and a wonderful writing about it.

This was a fun read, Maureen. Your ability to make me smile is unparalleled. I truly do love this poem, but it doesn't actually include self examination or a detailed description of the poem. Your experience was amazing to me though! I have had similar things occur. I just wish soimething like that would happen for me now!

Wow! That's pretty amazing, great write, well expressed!
Thanks for sharing and take care, what a really cool poem!

I enjoyed your poem about dreams and hope that you win or won the contest. I hope most of my dreams never come true, because they are too weird. Not long ago I had one about a blue cow. Naturally, I had to write a story about that dream; I often write about my dreams, because of how strange they are. I still hope, however, that they don't come true.

Funny how things like this happen....we know almost instinctively when something is significant, yet are so surprised and amazed when it comes to light! I've had experiences like that many times and can no longer believe that anything in life is completely random. Everything is connected and every event in the universe affects something else. The orchestration of it all boggles my mind, yet I believe it to be so. This is quite a dream you had and you related it very well in your poem....a tough thing to do in rhyme, but you pulled it off nicely! Thanks for sharing this and good luck in the contest! Peace and blessings to you! ~Janet~
