our happy knew year

I had no idea what to expect that night,
when I was waiting for you to leave work.
then you slipped me a little note,
and I forgot about the jerk

the note said "kisses",
as the ball dropped.
no one knowing,
as my heart popped.

you were my boss,
I was so afraid.
but when I got out of my car,
the feeling was delayed.

You kissed me with such honesty,
and said "happy new year".
in that moment of that kiss,
I knew with you there was nothing to fear.

and after that,
I'm afraid our first date was a blur.
of chamapagne and innocent kisses,
of this I'm sure you'll concur.


who knew we'd fall in love?
or that you'd ask the question?
If told the day we had met,
I'd have laughed at the suggestion.

in a year we'll be married,
hopefully with little strife.
I know you'll be an amazing husband.
But it's crazy to think I'll be a wife!!
