Merry Merry Wiccan Wiccan Friends

Written to the melody of “Forest Maze” by Random Goldfish (you've gotta hear her original score!)

.

"to read this without the music would be like eating stale potato chips..."

(and you won't appreciate the reason for my repeating 'merry' and 'Wiccan'!)

~Verses 1, 2~

0:00

Merry, merry wiccan, Wiccan friends

draw down the moon in a cross-lit haze

Magick in their land on the eight Sabbat days

gone hand-in-hand for a year and a day…

.

0:10

Have you seen my wiccan, Wiccan friends?

Draw down the sun in cross-quartered days

up above a tree blossoms, bursts into light

one Wiccan friend in a wedding tonight…

.

  [Interlude]

  0:21

  {Earth,

    Water,

     Fire;

  Moon,

    Air,

     Sea;

  spirits

   freed…}

.

0:31

Can I find my wiccan, Wiccan friends?

Gone to the edge of the hollows gray

summoning the Gods as they dance, as they sing

lost in a state far beyond their initiation…

.

  [Chorus]

  0:42

  Early, early Wiccans play in the forest,

  incant their magick, shaping nature;

  Secret, secret Wiccans casting their circles

  gatherings of witches, priestess, wizards…

.

    [Bridge]

    0:53

    can you find their coven?

    can you find their coven…

    spirits in a coven…

    spirit in a harvest talisman…

.

.

(music cut)

.

~Verses 3, 4~

0:59

Secret, secret wiccan, Wiccan friends,

see what I can’t in their trance-like states

‘round the sacred rings, astral cleaning away

one witch’s broom sweeps in deosil gay…

.

1:09

‘Round and round my wiccan, Wiccan friends

chant to keep in the good energies;

'round a circle dance, Book of Shadows displayed

be they a witch, or an elf, or a fae…

.

  [Interlude]

  1:20

  Virtues to eight

  crystals stones

  magick Rites…

.

1:30

Clear your eyes my wiccan, Wiccan friends

Spring Equinox in a morning rain

summon in the guard on a closed-quarter day

high priestess chants, is possessed by the raining goddess…

.

  [Chorus]

  1:41

  Merry, merry Wiccans, dance ‘round the circles

  one with the Earth and magick angels…

  tiny, tiny Wiccans, dance ‘round the forest

  transforming nature as they will it…

.

    [Bridge]

    1:51

    can you sense their Goddess?

    Maiden, Mother, Moon, a

    God her child lover…

    visiting my magick Wiccan friends…

.

.

      thanks, I hope you were able to hear the music (as the poem are the lyrics, and your mind is the singer!)(not to mention the music is original, and from a young poetess here on AP); and that this piece was from the perspective of someone observing from the outside... (which I was!)

    Very interesting and unique! The music was so fast that I really couldn't read along... I could only skim the lines and get a general idea (the timing indications did help, though, so thanks for that). I read the lyrics more closely after the music was done.

    That said, the music was such that I could imagine the lyrics being sung to it, by someone who's had more practice than me. And strong lungs. That's a must.

    I think it's great that you were able to write lyrics that really sound like a song while being rather informative and educational about Wiccan rituals. I have read a bit about Wicca, so I was able to get some of the references without having to read your comments (e.g. the "drawing down of the sun").

    Nicely done! Thanks for the entry!

    Well, since I am Wiccan...this was very fun for me to read!

      glad it was, you do realize you were the reason for this piece- you've tolerated me so far, so I thought I'd give a little back... as for the contest- had to give you a little competition! (and half me points if I get lucky, just for the inspiration...!)

      Oh, I can relate to the 'no guidance' issue- but even with no 'one', there are still 'things', and that's where the study and explore on your own comes in- I just can't understand a person when he/she says, 'I'm bored'...!
