Ms. Chaquets

I remember Ms. Chaquets,
who laughed and laughed and taught,
who sparked my interest in poetry,
whether for good or not,
she said "I don't like this story",
to the tripe we were forced to read,
and for that I thank her for the honesty,
forever indebted to this policy,
she was a lady with a smile,
and who never had a frown,
She knew great people,
introduced me to Mr. Hughes,
she taught us about dreams,
a million years ago, it seems,
And it is impossible to overstate it,
Ms. Chaquets will always be appreciated.

How wonderful that you write from this teachers inspiration, she may never know she fired your interest so much but the flame will always be burning

First response? That lines 1-8 say everything the poem wants to say, and the rest is implicit in them. if anything, build her, give us a more vivid/visual sense of who she was (or at least who she seemed to be), but so so in the context of her opening a waiting mind to poetry. Good beginning.
