Free Bird Flying

Missing image

It's those dimples that stop
them in their tracks
when you smile
with that carefree abandon
 your hair
 doing its own thing,
you are child personified.
 I stop in that
Mother's state of grace
and fall short of heaven
but I have you,
so I'm content.
You the reckless one,
never scared
always "I can do it"
my heart has tripped over itself
more than once.
Your freedom is something
to watch
I promise to
never clip your wings.
If you promise to always
fly home.

Author notes

She turned 5 today.. Nevaeh is my last baby and will be starting school next month.. Breaking my heart in the process. We both have misgivings but like the others I know she will do just fine.

Happy Birthday Scooter

    dimples...

A beautiful child full of the wonder of youth... and with the vitality to find out what makes the world tick I would guess.
A very heartfelt moment between mother and daughter skillfully painted by your words. Your love and pride are obvious Cat!

Happy, happy birthday to Nevaeh and Happy Birth-ing Day to you Mom-Catressa! I know that first-day of school feeling from years bacj--While I was outside the classroom tearing-up, Carlee had already dodged into the playhouse.

It's a poem that little Nevaeh will treasure always, especially come her high-school graduation. It's one of those poems that she'll smile whenever to come and read again--Especially written just for her by her Mom on the occasion of her 5th birthday!

    Cute as Always

Sweet thoughts to send her to school with and tell her congrats on school. Hold on my dear one, you have many more firsts to go. Just wait til they have kids and when they move out. Talk about crying and trying to hold on forever.... You're strong, you can do it and yes they always come back home. After all, we are MOM!
    Love ya. Hugs~ Cuddles

Oh this is beautiful, Catressa...and isn't she simply adorable. I know how those "last babies" can crawl right into a mother's heart...my "little" one is 16 already and soon he'll be leaving home too...so I'm with you in all the emotions you've expressed here. But we know they'll be fine because they are so very special. This one just made my eyes soooo soft

Ahhh, so has mine, Cat. I guess we all do, eventually. If Nevaeh ever trips over hers, may she show your strength & grace & rise, ready to run again. What an adorable child. Beautiful eyes, great smile. She will go far in life, I'm sure...but never too far from the love of her family. Hoppy Birdy Day, Nevaeh. Wanda
