On the Way Down

What do you do when you're at your lowest
Your eyes are listless, but tears are shimmering
Your lower lip trembles, (bite gently down)
With words suppressed and far too revealing
What are you supposed to do when this hits
When the sadness is too much to handle
When your pen lies still, but your brain continues
Wandering around in circles, without an escape
Your shoulders are tight, the agitation palpable
At some point you will need a chance at release
So what can you do; you're going to have to
Pick someone to trust, invest a piece of your soul in
Hope that this fragile bit of self will be treasured
Protected and held dear, not thrown out and exposed
For only in the arms of someone can you find solace

Author notes

Heh. This came to me the other day when I tried to work out who I have to confide in. It was originally supposed to be about who do you talk to about affairs of the heart, but then somehow it turned into choosing a love to trust.

Please tell me what you think
