To chop this weight it has freed me, to be outside the norm.
To hold my head high, without those locks to hide me.
I was trapped by my own doing, by society's views.
But now I see, I am me, I must follow my heart.
'To thine own self be true.'
It seems silly really, to limit yourself by society.
So I am standing tall, I am breaking the rules.
Are you uncomfortable? Is that why words like 'dyke' come out?
Well good. It's time you see not everything is what society says it is.
Not everything is black and white.
And to think, all this over a girl's hair.

My hair is about 3/4 an inch long at the LONGEST parts now. Most people have said they love it, that it's nice looking, that I look older. But some are narrow-minded.

You are as beautiful with short hair as you were with your long hair. To me, you would even be beautiful bald. I will agree with you about narrow minded people as they will judge a book by it's cover and not its contents. That's the great thing about you for I have always known you to be different. I have always been your friend and more proud of you with each passing day. You are a marvelous lady and a diamond that sparkles beyond belief. Thank you for being you and standing up for what you believe in. America is truly getting a warrior in you! I love it just like the love I have for you.
