Stars pepper a moonless sky
My thoughts turn to you and I don't know quite what I'm hoping for
But I do know one thing for sure: I hope we won't have to weather anymore
And as you lay in your soft bed the distance grows inside my head
For now, I guess this song has to suffice
But I hope you're dreaming something nice
Memories of warmer times come while I'm afar
Strumming aimlessly on my guitar
And though these journeys have been kind, the more I'm gone the more I find
I long for what I leave behind
Thoughts will roam to suit their own device
I hope you're dreaming something nice
To my family and to all my friends
Those who give me strength
I gaze at my reflection and see you all reflected in my eyes
To no surprise
Quilts of houses on the ground below me signify
All the people I am passing by
And I know I wouldn't mind if all our lives became intwined
Then I'm off again just name the price
Still, I hope they're dreaming something nice

I like the general idea however I am not as keen on the rhyming scheme. It feels too forced.
However the wording works really well in most places and paints a picture of a beautiful dream when someone you cared about has left you...
Thankyou and goodluck in the contest!
