Than to get my hopes up
Start imagining things
That are only imagination.
I saw us
Lying on the dock
Gracie panting softly at our side;
Sipping into the water
Water fights and squishing mud beneath our feet;
Shucking corn
Eating dinner on the porch
And talking late into the night...
But I should have known better
Than to get my hopes up
Before even knowing if you wanted to or not.

why do i always get my hopes up about things? it just leads to me being really depressed when it doesn't happen.
