Who is a Poet?

Is there a poet
in everybody,
that would love
to come out and write?
Poems are like thoughts,
printed in black and white.
We all have thoughts,
flashing through our heads,
maybe some have more than others,
or some don't care to share.
If we all wrote down our thoughts,
there'd be words everywhere.
Think of the poor trees,
they'd become very rare.
Poems are an art form,
without colour or canvas,
a complete image can be born.
Maybe artists are poets,
without the use of words.
Preferring to use paint
to describe their concerns.
I've always written poems,
without any form,
does this make me a poet?
Or just the norm?
Is a poet,
somebody with time to kill,
whatever, I love to write,
I hope I always will.

Nice write. You are a poet and not just wasting time. I like how you wrote about the trees, unfortunately it is true. But since we use the PC, that should make us feel better! I loved the write.

This is a very interesting concept, sometimes I think anyone can be a poet (for it comes from the heart) but some are better than others. Then other times I think you need a gift with words to be a real poet, anyone can string some half-arsed words together, but only a poet can make half an arse beautiful! Good luck in the contest, this is a very nicely done poem, and in my opinion (which I'm afraid you won't get much money for) you are a very good, very real poet. I hope you continue to write as I will continue to read x tae care x
