Hush my little one, lay down your head
Its time to sleep soundly away in your bed.
Your father is out, attending the sheep
There`s nothing to fret about, lay down and sleep.
I`ll do the worrying, hush now don`t cry
He will be here again soon, bye and bye.
A lamp in the window will guide his way home,
So he won`t hurt himself on a great stone.
The kettle is singing away on the fire.
I`ll put some more turf on, so it grows higher.
He will find a warm welcome when he gets here,
So sleep away little one, there`s my sweet dear.
