Different Breed?

Poetry is a matter of preference
many write to express feelings
others to voice their opinions
some to deal with their sorrows
everyone has their own reasons
there is, however, a reason for everyone.

There is only one general difference
between poets and those that are not
it is also what distinguishes
many poets from each other, at times
the ability to write poetry
with proper grammar and literary skills.

Although it helps, skill isn't required
Anyone is capable of writing poetry
by merely writing what one feels inside
expressing emotions from your heart
reaching into your soul for meaning
finding words that best say what you want.

Everyone has feelings and emotions
love and compassion in their heart
Sorrows, joy, values and truth
we all are inspired by nature
sunrise, sunsets, twin mountain lakes
are poet's different for writing of such?

I would have to say what I have found
you won't find many poet bad apples
most who write poetic verse are real
they have heart, care, and are kind
All in all they are pretty good folks.
I don't think those who don't write poetry
are such a different breed?
I would hope not.

    A different breed

Poetry is the essence of life to that poet. It is the breath that eminates from our mind to our keyboard and its infulenced by memories. I liked this.

Kelly Says,This is truly a wonderful piece you have here! You've grasped the meaning of this contest and woven a remarkable pen. Bob says, I love this! Although I still tend to beleive that poets are different, only in the sense that they can put words on paper that an average joe like myself cannot. I think all people are different to some degree. I could not be a doctor, nor could I be an acrobate! If we were all the same would this world not be a boring place? Isn't different good? I think it is. We are so glad you entered our contest with your wonderful poem, best of luck to you! Kelly & Bob

Thank you for the Gold Trophy

and thank you for your time and effort holding the contest. I am pleased you enjoyed my poem, it might even say something for the issue of the contest for whatever importance, Bob and I seem to have something considerably in common, I would be hard pressed to consider myself much more than an average Joe myself and would not be at all suprised if wasn't a bit rougher around the edges, LOL In which case I'd have to say if I can pen a poem just about anyone can, on the other had I have to agree that we were'nt meant to all be the same and we are all different in some way or another, yet ones character can provide uniqueness enough to support any common grounds. But let's face it the is no magic formula that fits us all. Thanks for the award, contest and comments, I have found this interesting, enlightening and enjoyable
      Best Regards,
      David (aka Roaddog Wolf)
