Ah, I can just see it and feel the place.
Lovely and yes, this is so fine, should be published!

It was published, Melodies. The scene was one I saw many years ago, which stuck in my memory. I think it was a light-green '65 T-Bird, and it had a "for sale" sign in the window. Later, someone sent me a mounted photo of the same car! Thank you.

I really like this haiku, Mahri. It's as sleek as one of those classic T-Birds itself!
CONGRATULATIONS on the publication! It's a wonderful haiku and I truly enjoyed the read.

very visual, i love it. And it's a Ford...I must say I'm partial to Fords. Best of luck in the contest, Mb. Break a leg or two.

you should get into haiku, bj - they have a wonderful calming effect.

I've tried that, twice, and both times they were horrible. Nobody is allowed to read them *smirk

Who could not love this haiku? It even has a car built in and nature surrounding!

This is beautiful. Composed perfectly with the first five syllables as the title. I entered Allan's contest too but I'm going to withdraw it. Mine was sold and is printed on tea cans. I don't think it's fair that I enter it. Your image is perfect!

Thank you, sweetheart. I wrote this some time ago, and decided to put it here an a white background, shorn of any decoration, so it would stand completely on its own. My haiku are getting better - less like three bullet-points and more like a single thought, I am glad to say. Your endorsement means a lot to me.

(This haiku was printed in a small magazine in the UK)

Thunderbird...!
Very good poet! I had a mental image of the first Thunderbird I remember seeing when I was a child. It was all red and chrome and I thought the people in it must be movie stars or something!
Thanks for the memory! Good luck in the contest!

I have only ever seen two of these, the first was a restored 1957 T-bird, red and chrome as you describe. The second was an abandoned one from the 1960s, but which time the design was linear, boring, shorn of fins and chrome, according to the tastes of the time. It was sitting on a rural driveway, with a "for sale" sign in the window. It was the fleeting view of that one which inspired this poem. Thank you for your comments.
