A crow sits on my window sill
He stares in and I am still
If I made one noise he heard
I would lose that fleeting bird
I do my best to play a stone
While he sits there, all alone
He stares in, and I gaze back,
With charcoal eyes and feathers black
Then on a whim I took a chance
With gentle words and careful stance
Rhetorically, I asked the Crow
"Oh what stories must you know?"
To my surprise he answered back
With a voice so smoothly cracked
"I've seen more than you could dream
And dreamed of more than I have seen
I've heard music with no sound
And watched a star fall to the ground."
He stole a pause to think and preen
Before retelling all he's seen
"I saved a lamb from the slaughter
Traversed a desert made of water
Over oceans did I glide
Before I broke a mountainside."
And as I listened to that bird
I envisioned all I'd heard
Monsters, angels without wings
Deadly love and magic things
While he spoke I longed to know
All the knowledge of the Crow
"Oh Crow, oh Crow if only I
Could leave with you, if I could fly."
I wished for that and so much more
"But how is it I may soar?
I was not blessed with beak nor wing."
Then from my sill the Crow did sing
"I fly, you fly, all the same
Fear not the air for she is tame
Come out to sky, away from ground."
And off he flew without a sound
Frantic for his company
As he perched within a tree
My window's open, I look out
Longing Crow and shunning doubt
With confidence in idle Crow
I closed my eyes and then let go
Trusting, I release my steppe
And then I plummet to my death
Author notes
So, I want to know what you think! I'd really enjoy some good critisism and lengthy comments, if you don't mind ^-^

I find them... mysterious.
Wow Flurry-chan, everytime I look at this, it makes me see more and more of a story behind it. It's a nice read, and for some reason, you're very good with writing things like this! I know you have stuff similar to this in you, but this seems different somehow... I'll probably never know.

Great write! I really enjoyed reading this piece! The color of the text did make it a little difficult to read but other then that...I loved the background it went beautifully with the piece! My only suggestion would be to change the text color to make it easier to read...still great job! Thank you so much for entering! Excellent work and the best of luck in my contest!
