The bird with crystal plumage

The bird with crystal plumage
Takes to the sky and dazzles the land
A sea of faces awash with dismay
Contorted into cherished masks of pain
All eyes stare
Skyward to witness
The birth of the sun
The coming of shadow
From out of the twilight the darkness erupts
Engulfing the land draining its lifeblood
The lidless eyes widen
Screaming in fear
Looking to the sky
To the God they revere
The bird with crystal plumage
They stand together in fire
Bodies eaten
Devoured together
Cast upon the pyre
The crystalline feathers, soaring crest alight
The Bird bore aloft on wings of moonlight
Oil spills to the heavens
Crashes down on the flames
The oil, malignant shadow
Consuming the burnt remains
The cycle hurtles onward
The tribute to the soul
The nightmare depicts the sun
Blackened and swallowed whole

Hours pass and still nothing moves
Blood stains long bled from seeping wounds
The hours pass to winding daze
Slumbering beneath the starlight gaze

Consumed
The bird breaks from the binds on night
Aflame
Torchlight to the restless souls of yesterday
To be led far from the blanket slaughter
Ascend to where the light cannot die
Places where one the bird can fly
Bodies rot to dust and sand
Desolate plains of a grey wasteland
The shadows are all burnt away
As the nightmares named as yesterday

Please tell me what you think

ooooh, someone did some rhyme. I like it. its like a fable of some kind. So original too - i love the image of the lidless eyes becoming wider, i dont know why. You always manage to stack a hell of a lot of imagery in, without ever losing the point or it seeming too much. I envy you for that. And the last section is immense - like a release but somehow seeming like a defeat. THe only way i can put it is, like after a traumatic experience, you "get back on the horse" but ur always a bit broken, have to live with the past.

    excellent, excellent, excellent!!
