An unmarked grave
in an unknown land
The sorrow it brings
This Man died and
was forgotten
The pain they must feel
A hero he was
a father he is
What grief they bear
A little girl left behind
a wife without a husband
The sadness it causes
He died for his country
he died for a cause
The harm they have caused
His honor was slighted
his memory disgraced
What lies they have told
The family grieves
the child mourns
The despair that is felt
Answers they need
to the questions asked
about the soldiers death
A father, a husband, a brother,
a son

You have taken very difficult emotions and reduced them to the most eloquently and tender of statements about WHO a soldier is. He is not just fighting in someone else's war - he is a brother, a son, a husband, and a father - I am so sorry for your loss. This is a well-written poem.

This is just way to sad. It makes me want to cry. You have done a great job writing your thoughts here. Keep that pen handy dear poet!

Sad
War, it seems it always happens. I have known young friends that have died because of war & I read so much about war. sadly I cannot find a solution to stop it. especially where religion comes into play. I grieve for you loss

This is wonderfully written and so sad. It is heartfelt and flows so smoothly. It is sad that this actually happens. Even sadder still is how often it happens. Well written.
