She waits with eagerness in her gaze
Flight of fight springs back and forth
Like butterfly's dancing in full bloom meadow
Suddenly, she spies her pray
Alone in the woods
Bracken and thickets hide her impish smile
She knows, she must leap into hooded skies
For her time is precious
Her wings will only carry her so far
Then it remains in what her prey
Has to offer, love is her destiny
Will she fly, or fight to find another day

I especially liked the line 'Bracken and thickets hide her impish smile'. It tells an entire story in one line. I know who she is and where she is and a sense of what she is doing. Gill, you write with such a soft enchanting touch.

Beautiful pic Gill, and you have done it justice with the poem, makes me think of a predator ready to grab it's prey. Well done

That pic is pretty mesmerizing...
Enjoyed this write. Apprehension and fear of the unknown...
but a yearning to grab all life has to offer...
Methinks you should fly !!

Ahh, pic inspired eh?
I hear the words loud and clear, Gilly, and I think they speak a lot of truth ..
Sometimes the truth hurts..
But there it is ..maybe a bit painful..like ripping a bandaid off, but so beautiful ..despite it's pain. -
