Daily she wrote diligently in her diary
setting out everything she did or felt
her daily comings and goings
and deepest most intimate thoughts
written in her own handwriting
her highs, her lows, her loves,
her hopes, her dreams, her fantasies
all her secrets revealed
in this small green leather bound book
placed underneath the pillow she had slept on
She dreamt of being the first woman to walk on a far off planet
she had watched in awe as man walked on the moon
and set her sights firmly on a similar walk one day
Page after page she poured out her thoughts
little knowing who would read them after she was gone
but this was her passion
to record her life day by day
thought by thought
action by action
her school years, her family
her graduation, her marriage
then sadly the entries stopped suddenly
She had quietly ceased to exist on earth
called away to be one of God's angels
but left behind was her life story
soon to be re written in book form
by her loving family
to be kept as a family heirloom
honouring the life of a great lady.

This was fabulous, now I don't know if it is a true story or a fictional piece, which makes it even more powerful. Lovely work from you and a lovely story.

This is beautiful. Diaries can reveal a person's most intimate personal thoughts and feelings. I actually have a journal my grandparents had when they were younger. It was like a travel log. Some entries are made by my grandfather, some my grandmother and some my aunt in her younger years. It's a great thing to have around the house in their memory. Anyway, great write. Good luck in the contest.

diary's hold so many mysterys, and when the pen stops, happy tears or sad tears yet memories are forever as a are mysterys.
Excellent write, well written, enchanting sad, yet a peaceful poem, in a way.
Like a memoir of or keepsake, to a past, you never want to lose within forgetfulness, awesome poem.
