Sun sets through thunderclouds.
Periwinkle-gray skies
resemble a dusk watercolor
blurred.
A faint breeze caresses
humidity prickled skin and
we sway gently on
obsidian water.
Fireflies join the lightning
crashing overhead,
illuminating a starless
night.
Dawn breaks.
A molten gold sun
ascends through
silhouetted palm trees
reflecting perfectly
on mirror-water.
Our boat slowly cuts
this image;
Leaving serenity
heading toward our
next stop.
Author notes
one of my favorite stops during my trip to India was taking a houseboat on the backwaters of Kerala.

Simply beautiful. Such a lovely picture you have painted here with your words. Vivid and peaceful. Great adjectives. Written smoothly, cleanly, and thoughtfully. Very nice.
